"Cami Automotive employees have been working around the clock and have been pressed into mandatory overtime to keep pace with soaring demand for its new Chevrolet Equinox. Since the first entry-level sport-utility vehicle rolled off the line Feb. 23, 150 workers have been recalled from layoff. The plant has already assembled 50,000 vehicles and is on pace to manufacture more than 180,000 as dealers can't keep them in stock, Canadian Auto Workers and GM officials said yesterday.

"The Equinox has been selling like crazy and we keep hearing there is not enough field stock out there. It's a nice problem to have," said Kevin Brooke, plant chairperson for Local 88 of the CAW."
